My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darby is a sad case of true neglect and suffering. He agonized at the hands of a puppy mill operator. Most puppy mill dogs are housed in shockingly poor conditions and are kept in small cages to be bred over and over for years. Most of the breeding "stock" go without human companionship, with no toys and with little hope of ever joining a family. After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are often killed or abandoned. The annual result of all this breeding is millions of puppies, many with behavior and/or health problems which are sold to pet stores.
Darby, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was abandoned along with four other breeder dogs who had been denied food and water for days. They had been laying in their own urine and feces and the smell on ammonia was overpowering. They only survived by eating their own feces. Darby was malnourished but surprisingly heartworm negative. His body had almost shut down when we got him but we've been treating him for some deficiencies and he is making tremendous strides. This little guy still has a long way to go to recovery but we rejoice each day for his progress.
