Skippy 2180's Info...

I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Skippy 2180's Story...
Skippy is mystery. He was picked up by animal control with a previously professionally amputated right rear leg and a metal plate in his left rear leg. (We are guessing he was hit by a car). However, Skippy's left rear leg now had an infection and the metal plate was exposed. In addition, he had a yeast infection that caused him to lose the hair on his head, ears and front half. How could someone let him get into this condition after they paid for such expensive surgery?
The wonderful folks at SJACC fixed his remaining rear leg (the metal plate has been removed as he no longer needs it) and treated him for his yeast infection. Skippy is now in foster care while he works on growing back a beautiful coat (although it appears his new hair is growing in white). Skippy is very people focused and very friendly. He really wants to be someone's special boy. Having only three legs does not bother him at
all.

He still has a bit of a rough appearance due to missing hair but he is looking better every day. We think Skippy is about 90% doxie as his ears are a wee bit short
and his legs a wee bit long. Skippy is neutered and he came into rescue housebroken. He sleeps in a crate at night although he wants to sleep in the big bed. Skippy does not do well with greeting new dogs but given a little bit of time (10 minutes), he gets along nicely with other dogs. He has started to play with the dogs in his foster home although he doesn't like it when they get too rambunctious as they can easily knock him over. Skippy wants a home that sees how beautiful he is on the inside and has the vision to picture what he will look like with a few months of good food and good care.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Skippy 2180, a San Jose Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in San Jose, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in San Jose.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Jose already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Jose breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Jose paves the way for another one to be saved.
