Buddy's Info...
| Breed: | Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel (Unknown Type) Mix | Color: | Black - With Brown, Red, Golden, Orange Or Chestnut | Age: | Adult |
| Size: | Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) | Sex: | Male |
I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
d.o.b: Nov 7, 08:
adoption fee: $195(see application below)
Buddy is a fine young man, who is housebroken, gets along well with RESPECTFUL older children(past family's 4yo terrorized him, according to 'dad') and other dogs, so we feel that a family with young children is not a good situation for Buddy's sake.
Buddy is neutered, microchipped, on heartworm & flea/tick prevention, and current on all vax.
He was originally adopted from H4S in late 2008 by a lovely family in the Asheville, NC area. Then, Dad lost his job, lost their home and had to move away, from a house with large fenced-in yard to an apt, where he had no room to exercise or play.
To top it off, 'Dad' admitted that while he was away at work, the family's 4yo was not kind to Buddy, while under Mom's supervision. So, when Buddy growled at the toddler for the excessive abuse/teasing he was having to endure, they decided they would try medicating him. The drugs didn't help solve their problems. Apparently, Buddy didn't really need medicating(H4S took him off it and he's doing great!), it's just that the child needed more disapplining, which wasn't going to happen during those daytime hours, according to 'Dad'.
&, so, since they could not rehome the child, it was obvious that it was Buddy who had to go.
Buddy has a wonderful sense of enthusiasm & is very devoted to his people. In the a.m. he's so happy everyone is up and it's a new day, he jumps straight up in the air with pure JOY! He smiles when he's happy (which is most of the time)and he will make an excellent companion/family pet with the right family situation. A more loving companion animal, you will not find!
Homes with 'high-energy' children of any age need not apply.
Buddy would like another furkid playmate to pal around/play with, if possible, but could be quite contented with an active person or couple who goes on walks/hikes or is willing to play ball, go to beach for walks, some type of activity where he will be able to get some decent running/exercise, each day.
To apply to adopt this VERY SWEET, gentle and friendly best Buddy, please copy and paste the app below in to a new email, complete all questions(incomplete apps will be discarded), and forward to: h4s_cares@yahoo.com
His adoption fee is $195(includes all medical, microchip & transport from western NC to as far as Rocky Hill, CT on any 4th Sat/each month).

****Our goal in rescuing and re-homing animals is to provide them with a loving home for the rest of their life. The adoption fee covers their medical costs associated with the animal, medical and daily care during their foster period and transport. All animals adopted by our group MUST BE spayed/neutered prior to finalizing the placement. NO exceptions!

Rescue Group Info...
Howlin4Spirit Companion Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization. It is with tribute to our region that we proudly say that we have rescued over 6,600 lives since the inception in Jan/2004.
We are a network of foster homes in western North Carolina.
We rescue all our dogs from high-kill Animal Control facilities in northern South Carolina and western North Carolina, as well as unwanted, neglect & abusive situations in rural areas of our region.
All our rescued dogs are completely vetted at: Rutherford Vet Hospital, Rutherforton, NC (tele#828-286-9335/Michelle Toms-Greene, DVM is H4S's special medical adviser).
(If you would like to make a donation, you may call in your credit/debit card and ask them to put a specific amt into Howlin4Spirit's acct. This way, you'll know that EVERY cent goes to the medical needs of our rescued furkids).
When the dogs are completely vetted(ALL dogs are spayed, vax'd, dewormed, microchipped, & heartworm neg...if they test positive, they are treated. H4S CARes absorbs the expense) and can easily pass the strict requirements for a health certificate to travel out of state, we place them up on this site and other pet adoption venues. All adoption applications are processed through our home office in Rutherfordton, NC but most foster parents are personally involved & must approve each adopter, as they know their foster furkid best.
Why? FOR THE ADOPTABLE HOMELESS DOGS who have the ability to go forth and share unconditional love and companionship, & who would otherwise needlessly be put to death. because no fault of their own.
If an owner releases litters of puppies to H4S CARes, we pay to get 'mama dog' spayed.
This is a non-negotiable clause in our rescue mission!
We do everything we can to help stop the pet overpopulation problem.
H4S CARes acct at: Rutherford Vet Hospital 305 Chimney Rock Rd Rutherfordton, NC 28139 828-286-9335
Each rescued animal is placed in foster care in NC, PA, NJ, NY and CT.
Most of our dogs are housed in different foster homes, as mentioned above. We network their pictures and bios, as well as all information each foster home collects on each of their temporary furkids. We screen each and every applicant, having many telephone conversations to ensure that the dog is not placed in the wrong home(we want to ensure the dog's confidence in people & prevent from bouncing them from home/family to another), for that individual dog's and the adopter's needs.
We also set-up at PetsMart during their Spring and Fall adoptathon events, in Asheville, NC.
Mostly, we adopt directly to adopters, who find our rescued fosterkids via the internet, plus we transport healthy puppies taken from neglect situations in the South to 'no-kill' shelters and rescues in PA, NJ & NY who are in a better position to find homes for so many we do not have space nor time to screen homes/families for, since there is such an abundance of homeless companion animals in our region. Thankfully, the northern regionss of the eastern seaboard are able to get stricter regulations enacted into law so that the pet overpopulation problem does not exist, in that area.
ALL dogs' futures are secure, as we have placed a clause in our contract that, if the dog does not work out, the dog comes back into H4S's care.
We arrange all transport to and from all adoptive homes.
All dogs are driven to their foster families by our founder/fosterer/gofor from NC, after they are healthy and can readily pass their health certification.
Our adoption fees vary from $175 to $375(includes speuter, microchip, all vax to date, dewormings,
health certificates and transport to pre-approved adoptive families).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our adoption fees vary from $175 to $375(includes speuter, microchip, all vax to date, dewormings, health certificates and transport, if needed).
NO dog EVER leaves our care without being altered and receiving the above-mentioned vet care.
IF a dog tests positive for heartworms, they are treated and complete a 5 week quarantine before they can leave our care. H4S CARes absorbs all HW treatment costs and does not pass this expense onto the adopter.
Also, we ALWAYS spay the mama dogs, if an owner releases any puppies/litters to H4S CARes.
This is never negotiable!
We do everything we can to help stop the pet overpopulation problem.
