Nena's Story...
All The Kings Horses Equine Rescue Inc bailed Nena from Camelot on 10/02/10. Nena is a registered TB (reg name Ballarta Nena) foaled on 02/22/99, out of Shauntelle Special. Ballarta Nena had seven starts coming in third 2 times. Her total earnings were $6,970. Her last race was on 10/15/02 at the Meadowlands. She was purchased by a breeding farm in PA and used as a brood mare before they decided to down size and drop her off in the pen. She also suffered a horrific injury by their vet leaving her blind in her left eye. The abuse went public and you can read about it here petabuse.com/cases/3924/PA/US/ She is an amazing horse, very trusting and sweet. She does not spook at all and the eye does not seem to bother her. She was ridden quietly through auction, walk/trot. her previous owner was using her as a lesson horse prior to her eye injury. Insurance frowned upon them using a partially blind horse in lessons, so they stopped. Nena is up to date with all shots and her teeth. She is very gentle, leads well, loads, cross ties, and vets well.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nena, a Northford Thoroughbred was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Thoroughbred for sale in Northford, or seeking a Thoroughbred from a breeder in Northford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Northford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Northford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Thoroughbred breeders who help with Thoroughbred rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Northford paves the way for another one to be saved.
