Duke's Story...
Whelp Date: 4/1998

Temperament: Duke is a returned pet, coming back to GREAT because his owner's new home doesn't allow dogs. Duke is a sweet and affectionate boy who loves to lay his head in your lap. He loves to greet you with a smile and some teeth chatter when you come home. Duke enjoys squeaky toys, loves to play tug of war, and gets along well with the other greyhounds, elderly Pekingese and cat in his foster home. He occasionally counter-cruises but responds very well to correction. He is a great leash walker and is friendly to everyone he meets. One of his favorite pastimes is running up and down the fence in the yard to say hello to all the neighbors and cars that pass by. He sleeps through the night on one of the dog blankets either in the living room or his foster parent’s bedroom. Duke is a beautiful gentle giant who will make a great addition to the right family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duke, a Tampa Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
