My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is one beautiful boy whose life so far has been a Greek tragedy. He and his sister, a former SHRF adoptee, were saved as pups from abusive conditions that took the lives of their other six siblings. They were successfully adopted out to good homes but Nikko’s plight took a turn for the worse. His new family brought home twins and relegated him to being an outside dog with little interaction.

Nikko subsequently went through two more homes that never made him a part of the family. Fortunately, the Good Samaritan that had originally saved him came across him living in a dirty kennel, his hair all matted with mange. She never recognized him as the one she had saved years before but he recognized her. He wooed and woofed until she took notice and took him home where he was treated for sarcoptic mange and heartworm. Only after being with her for a while did she finally recognize him.

Nikko is now a big boy, 70+ pounds but fit and very strong. His hair has grown back; he is in excellent health and is ready for a real forever home, one that makes him an integral part of the family, not something to be tossed aside when conditions change.

We feel Nikko would do best as the only dog in the family since he is not used to sharing his food or toys with other dogs. He is used to yard space to run around but now being trained to walk properly on a leash. He will chase anything that moves, so hold on tight when a cat crosses your path.

He makes a watery mess when drinking from his water bowl and will sneak over and take food from your hand if you are not watching. He is highly impatient when you’re preparing his food – no matter how fast you dish it out it’s not fast enough and he woofs and barks until you put it in front of him.

Nikko is completely housebroken, neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his shots.

This is one awesome dog. His handsome good looks command notice when walking down the street so expect people to ooh and aah when they see him. If you are the one to give him a loving home, fill out an adoption application on our web site, www.siberrescue.com, today.
