Merlin's Story...
Merlin (male)
Bark! I’m one lucky little guy. This really nice lady saved me from the pound. I’m a super-sweet 1-2 year old long-haired, tri-colored dachshund. I was probably surrendered to the pound because I don’t get along with other dogs, despite this cutie-pie face! I’m neutered, UTD on shots, and heartworm negative. I’m very loving with people, but I just need a home with no other dogs… and probably no cats either. My rescuer has a doggy door and I know how to use it to go potty outside. I sleep in a kennel at night, travel good in a car, and walk good on a leash. I’m not destructive and I don’t dig either. If you are a responsible pet owner and would like to meet me, please call Cynthia at 318-996-7155. There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is $80.00. Won’t YOU be my forever home?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Merlin, a Haughton Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
