Duchess: 2 Videos, Happy Girl & Trained by a pro!'s Story...

Please note, if you would like to meet Duchess, you must contact her rescuer Lisa Arturo at 2RESCUEANGELS@GMAIL.COM directly.

We are currently looking for a FOSTER HOME OR FOREVER HOME for Duchess.

We have 2 YouTube videos of Duchess.  PLEASE SEE HER YOUTUBE VIDEO POSTED AT THE BOTTOM OF HER WRITE-UP.  YOU CAN SEE HER LIVE AND HEAR A LOT ABOUT HER STORY.

We also have another YouTube video right here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqP1hB5kxH0  Please watch both of them because we've tried to give you as much information as we can about Duchess. She is a dear dog, and we would really like to get her out of boarding. She is being boarded at the same place where she has had Ivy League Training: Blue Dog Ranch in Burbank. She has had EXTENSIVE work with the owner and trainer of Blue Dog Ranch, David Roe.  David will be an important part of the fostering or adopting process.  Perhaps you would even consider a FOSTER to ADOPT program with Duchess? If you are the right person (and truly committed), this would be a great way to adopt a dog and learn from a pro (so Duchess continues to be the best girl she can be).  Read on....

DUCHESS was at the East Valley shelter when her rescuer, Lisa, spotted Duchess while she was volunteering at the shelter. Lisa noticed she was pregnant and alerted the shelter staff since they didn't know. The shelter was going to abort the puppies in a surgery, but Duchess had kennel cough and was too sick to go under anesthesia, so instead they were going to euthanize her. The shelter staff called Lisa at home to let her know this since she was the one who alerted them to Duchess' pregnancy. They asked Lisa if she wanted to pull Duchess herself. (To 'pull a dog' means that a rescue group or rescuer gets a dog out of the shelter to save it from being euthanized and find it a forever home). Lisa had never done this before and is very new to the rescue world, but she couldn't let this sweet girl die there. So she pulled her herself. It's a BIG undertaking to rescue a pregnant pit bull. Lisa and her rescue partner, Lisa (another Lisa!), have done a great job networking, showing, and standing behind Duchess and her puppies.

As we said earlier, Duchess is currently in boarding at Blue Dog Ranch. Duchess IS good with other dogs; she actually prefers it because she loves to play. But we believe she should be in a home that believes in supervision, crate training, lots of long walks and exercise, structure, love and proper guidance. We really don't want her to stay in boarding because we feel all dogs and cats do so much better in a home environment. It also gives us a chance to really get to know her and know which type of home she'd do best in. Duchess will be an amazing dog for some lucky person

DUCHESS is a 1 1/2 year old pit bull. She's what we call a 'Pocket Pit' as she's pretty small for a pit bull, only 30-35 pounds full grown. She's your typical teenage girl dog.  She is strong and active. She gets along with other dogs but needs proper introductions as she sometimes can be defensive on leash.
