My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady Butters has just arrived in her foster home, but is already settling in as one of the family. She looks like a lab in a bassett hound or dachshund's body, and is just the right size at 28 pounds. But don’t be fooled by her short stature! She is fast, athletic, jumps baby gates, and has lots of energy.

Lady can be a bit skittish when she first meets people and in new situations, but relaxes within a day. In no time she will be following you from room to room, sitting beside you at every opportunity, and gazing lovingly at you with her soft brown eyes. She has real lapdog potential and is anxious to receive and show affection.

Lady has a hound voice, deep and melodious, but has not used it very much. She is adapting to spending the night in a crate, complains for a short period, and then settles down and sleeps through the night. She walks wonderfully on a leash, almost as if she knows how to heal, and enjoys it immensely. She liked her resident "brother" dog immediately, and is learning to chase the squirrels in the yard. So far, she has had no housetraining accidents, so while we don’t know if she would be housebroken in every situation, she clearly prefers to go outside.

We haven’t seen Lady Butters interact with children, but given the fact that she is easily startled and a bit shy, very small children might not be ideal for her.

Butters' adoption fee of $300 includes: vet exam, heartworm test, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, deworming, microchip and spay.
