Clyde and Colton are handsome Miniature Dachshund brothers. Seven months old and very small, they are 7 and 8 pounds. Pretty red, longhaired boys... Colton's coat is fuller than Clyde's but Clyde’s coat is fuller than it would be if he were a shorthaired guy. I can just imagine how gorgeous their coats will be after a few months of great food.

The boys are a bit timid but nothing that won't be cured in a week and greatly improved in an evening of being in a lap, these boys want so much to be held and cuddled. They are 7 month old breeder's boys who 'retired' before they even began their career.

These brothers would love to be home by Christmas. These boys hope to be found by the special person who will say “Yes -I'll take you home”. If you would like to know more about this fine pup, just email us: or call 573-689-2400 / 2399.

This dog currently uses a dog door. He will quickly adjust to a new routine. A fenced yard, frequent trips accompanied by you, and lots of praise are the key to quick housetraining success. Spayed/ Neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped, all shots current, the adoption fee is $175 ($150- $200 sliding scale).

Information on the sliding scale, payment plan, and delivery options is below. “About the breed” is at the bottom of the page. If this is the dog for you, click on the link to our application and tell us all about yourself. We are at PetSmart in Chesterfield, MO on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. Call; if available, we can bring this pup up to meet you.

Adoption Fees and Payment Plans: If you need a bit of a financial break, pay the low end of the Sliding Scale. If your circumstances allow a larger donation, your generosity will is greatly appreciated. We take credit cards and payments. As with all of our adoptions, we know it is hard to get married on a blind date... even to a wonderful pup. We will take our dog back during the first month and refund your adoption fee less $50.

We can arrange a ride to many places. Free delivery to St. Louis weekly. For other areas - it is as if your new dog says: “Give me a ride home and I will split the gas.” Delivery Fees: No charge for 1 ½ hour drive. 1 ½ to 3 hour drive: $25 (Columbia, Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Springfield, Sikeston, West Plains, etc). $50 for a 4 – 6 hour trip (Kansas City, Joplin MO, Indianapolis, Springfield IL, Quincy IL.) If we can arrange a ride further, delivery fee depends on trip expenses.

About the breed: A lively and sweet natured creature, the Dachshund is a dog that makes a loyal and devoted pet for the right owner. Well suited to both inexperienced and experienced dog owners, they are adaptable, intelligent, and sociable. The Dachshund is not the right choice for those with little time to dedicate to a pet, as they do need love, attention, and companionship. Training should not prove too much of a challenge, as the Dachshund is quick to learn, eager to please, and responsive. However, he can have a very possessive streak when it comes to his belongings and food. The Dachshund has a great sense of humor, and can be a very entertaining and cheerful pet to have around. The sharp bark of these dogs makes them effective watchdogs. He tends to get along well with older, gentler kids. The Dachshund loves to be around other Dachsies, and with early socialization should get along fine with other pets.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Colton Mini-Dash, a St. Louis Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
