My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Holly. Last September, I found myself in a rural county pound in Alabama, pregnant and sleeping on a cold, concrete floor. A month later, I had four babies, and all I wanted was to get out of there and find someplace safe and warm for my puppies and me. In December, my wish came true. Adopt-A-Pet saved us, found wonderful homes for my babies, and is helping me to find my forever family. When I came to Adopt A Pet, I had heartworms. But Adopt-A-Pet treated me, and now I'm as good as new. I can do just about everything I want except I'm not allowed to run until the middle of March. I go on long walks and play with my foster family and do just great. My foster mom thinks I'm going to absolutely LOVE the dog park when I can finally run, so I can't wait to go there to play.

I'm a sweetheart of a gal, everyone who meets me says I am SO nice. I'm medium sized at 45 pounds and the vet thinks I'm no more than 2 years old. I look kind of like a lab-hound mix with short legs, and am a pretty red color with beautiful amber eyes. I'm very well behaved but still active and energetic. I always potty outside and am a wonderful listener.

This is what my foster mom has to say about me: "What a fabulous dog! She seems so grateful for every small gesture of kindness and love. She is quiet, patient, respectful, and connects quickly to her people. She follows me around the house and just looks at me with her sad eyes, waiting for me to kiss her or rub her head. She is 100% housetrained, rarely touches anything she shouldn't, and has full run of the house with absolutely no issues. She gets along beautifully with my dog and she has handled her activity restrictions with so much patience. I can tell that she would love to run and play, but she remains well-behaved despite her restricted exercise. My best guess is that she would love the dog park, and based on how she has responded to every dog she has met so far, I bet she will get along fine with the dogs there. She sometimes pulls on the leash at the start of her walks because she's so excited, but she calms down quickly and is otherwise very undemanding both in and out of the house. She likes toys and balls and LOVES being around people. Holly travels beautifully in the car and would be a wonderful companion to just about any kind of family. She has lots of kisses to share as well as the world's biggest heart. It amazes me how a dog like Holly who has spent so many months in a concrete cage -- and who knows what kind of neglectful life before that -- continues to believe that humans are kind and loving. Whoever adopts Holly will be getting as much as they would be giving. She's a gem."

So, I'm already extremely grateful to Adopt A Pet for rescuing me, but if it's not too much to ask, I'm hoping that my forever family will find me soon and bring me home! I promise that I will love you for the rest of my life.

My adoption fee of $290 includes: vet exam, heartworm test, heartworm treatment, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, deworming, microchip and spay.
