Sam's Story...
Sam was rescued by his foster mom from an overcrowded shelter the day before he was supposed to be euthanized.

Sam is a black, DSH, male cat, approximately 5 years old.

Sam is a very handsome cat. His picture doesn't do him justice. He's a big guy; completely black with gorgeous eyes and a tongue that sometimes sticks out. Although he is shy with strangers, he is very affectionate with his people. He loves being brushed and adores belly rubs. Sam isn't shy of dogs, and currently lives with 3 in his foster home.

Sam gets along great with the cats in his foster home as well. When he was first introduced, he turned the other cheek when being hissed at. (very noble of him) He was the first cat to befriend the newest foster addition to the household, and was caught snoozing on the bed cuddling up with a visiting kitten. He's just an easy going kind of guy, who gets along with cats and dogs alike.

Sam is a talkative cat. He will tell you a story if you'll listen, and he likes to remind you when mealtime is. He is very playful, and can be heard upstairs running around playing with his toys, or wrestling with the other cats.

Sam would make a wonderful addition if you're looking for a second or third cat, or he would do equally well in a one cat home provided you can give him the affection he needs.

Update, January 2014 from Sam's foster mom: Just wanted to give a bit of a Sam update. He seems to be coming out of his shell with new people, and will now come out of hiding to demand pets from whoever is visiting.

Sam is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. His adoption donation is $165. All of our cats are spayed or neutered,
microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Please fill out an application at our website

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sam, a Cambridge Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Cambridge, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Cambridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cambridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cambridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cambridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
