Amber is a black, spayed female with big amber eyes -- hence her name. She is a kitty with 'attitude,' who likes to be in charge. She’s being fostered in a home with two male cats, and she pretty much rules the household. She had been abandoned by her owner, who left her in an apartment. She lived with a dog in that household, and had no problems with a large dog. Amber loves to play, both with toys and with the other cats. She doesn’t like change; a new owner will need to give her a week or so to adjust to new surroundings. But once she is comfortable, she’s a loving, delightful companion.  See more photos of Amber and adoption information at http://www.shelteranimalsrescue.org.

About Shelter Animals Rescue Group (SARG)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue group, with emphasis on mixed-breed dogs and cats. We adopt primarily from our local animal shelter, although we occasionally take in hardship cases. We also assist individuals in our area by advertising on our website animals they need to rehome, if the animals have been spayed/neutered. We gratefully accept donations, and we need volunteers for many events. More than anything, we need foster homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes and boarding kennels. We show them regularly at the PetSmart store on Parkside Drive in Knoxville the second Friday of each month, 4 to 8 p.m., as well as by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Cat adoption fee is $125, and $145 for dogs. We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.
