Gavin's Story...
Gavin might be some kind of hound mix, though some people think he looks like a Boxer mix except for his coloring. He weighs 54 lbs and is 22" tall at the shoulder. He has been with me in foster care for two months and has proven to be very friendly with all people, especially men, and gets along well with my old male Whippet. He is housebroken, crate-trained, walks well on a leash and will retrieve a ball (sometimes). He loves to be with people, follows me around the yard and sleeps on his bed in the living room when he gets tired of sitting at my feet. He does not need a large yard- a 1/2 hour walk plus 15 minutes of playtime is enough to keep him exercised. He does bark when someone comes to the door but is then quiet on command. At feeding time he will open his crate door from the outside, then wait inside for his dinner. He will do well in any home with a strong pack leader.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gavin, a Litchfield Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer for sale in Litchfield, or seeking a Pointer dog from a breeder in Litchfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Litchfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Litchfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer breeders who help with Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Litchfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
