My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone, the doctor is in the house!

Zhivago, (Doctor Zhivago) how about that name??? I didn't respond at first but now I know my name.

One of the most important things that foster mom and dad tell me I should tell you is that I am completely housetrained. I have never, ever had an accident in the house.

At first when I got to my foster home I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. But I have come a long way from the scared, unsure dog that walked into the house at the beginning of December. I live with two other foster dog brothers and one dog foster sister. I like her even if she isn't a beagle. Foster mom told me she is an older jack russell terrier. Whatever, I like her.

At my foster home I get to sleep at night in a doggie bed beside my foster mom's bed along with all the other dogs. Each night I try to tell foster mom I want to sleep in the big bed with her but after one or two jumps up onto the bed I get the idea I am not allowed. She tells me all the dogs will want to and there is not enough room for all of us. I finally just curl up in one of the doggie beds on the floor and get comfortable there.

During the morning, foster dad feeds all of us and takes us outside to potty. After that I get to go back to sleep on the couch while all the other dogs go back into the room with foster mom to continue sleeping. My foster dad says I have earned the trust to stay out on the couch. I just sleep and do not get into any trouble.

Foster mom has taken me to a couple BREW adoption events and I ride nicely in the car. She just ties me in the back seat and I stay back where I belong, although I did put the window down with the button to smell all the good scents. Boy did I surprise foster mom with all the freezing cold air blowing through the car.

I like to lay by myself and chew on chews. I also will take some toys and throw them around. I will play with you for awhile if you want me to play. Sometimes foster mom acts silly and dances and sings and we chase her around.

For a beagle, I am not very vocal at all. I will bark if I see a squirrel outside but other then that I do not cause a big fuss. And you might hear a growl or two while I am playing with one of the foster brothers. But hey, they growl back at me if I have the toy.

I like to find the sunshine and lie down in it. When foster mom opens the curtains, I am always looking for the sunshine. One of my favorite things is napping, probably because it is winter and there is not much else to do. My other favorite thing is to be lying down on the couch with my head on your lap. I can't decide who has the better lap, foster mom or foster dad. LOL

When foster mom has errands to run, I am crated. Another piece of proof that I have come a long way from the first day I got here is...I used to jump on top of the crate (completely on top of it) instead of going into it. Now I know I am getting a peanut butter kong and I run into it and wait for foster mom to give it to me. No more jumping on the crate for me. She gives me the peanut butter kong and I am quiet in my crate.

One bad habit I have is I counter surf. What that means is I am a beagle with a good nose always looking for something tasty. Foster mom is always telling me down and I listen. It is not a really, really bad habit because sometimes I lie down on the rug in front of the sink when foster mom is cooking. But if you turn your back on me...well!!!

Well if you are looking for a doctor to help cure your winter blues, contact BREW about me...Dr. ZHIVAGO.
