Callie's Story...
"I am very mellow cat and enjoy being pet. I am frequently found at the shelter on the couch with 4 or 5 other cats in our daily grooming and snuggling session. I am very cooperative with taking my medicine every day (for a chronic upper respiratory condition) because without it, I sneeze a lot. I also like to drink running water from the sink (that is, if you’ll let me – LOL). As much as I love all of the cats here, and the people too, I am looking for a new home with a family to call my own. Come and visit me…I love entertaining company!" - Callie

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Callie, a Oyster Bay Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Oyster Bay, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Oyster Bay.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oyster Bay already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oyster Bay breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oyster Bay paves the way for another one to be saved.
