Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scooby is a beautiful 3 1/2 year old blue male with natural ears. He was raised from puppyhood in a very loving home, and he is a very happy, outgoing boy. He loves people and other dogs. It actually doesn't seem to occur to him that someone might not want to play with him! He has lived with another Dane, as well as a smaller dog, but has not yet been tested with cats. He does know his manners, but he gets excited and forgets sometimes. He will jump up, so will need to be placed with older children until he learns some restraint. He definitely needs leash training, but he's a smart boy and very praise-motivated, so we expect him to learn quickly. He was being left alone in the house for extended hours, and was completely trustworthy. He is looking for an active family who can give him lots of playtime and affection. Scooby came to MAGDRL in August 2010.
Update 11/11/10 - Scooby is making steady progress with his manners, however, still has front door issues (barking and jumping) that we're getting help with. He loves his walks in the woods and sits by his leash when he knows one is coming! He's getting better at greeting people and other dogs on our walks....staying settled until we meet them and being nice when we do. He heels very well with a haltie and would probably walk all day if we let him! This young man has lots of energy and loves to play ball in the yard, too, as well as chase squirrels, chipmunks and the occasional deer that makes its way over the fence. Luckily he hasn't realized that he could probably jump the fence anytime he wants, but we're not telling him that! He's wonderful inside, has run of the house and doesn't destroy anything. He has counter-surfed once but that's really not an issue at all. He's a total lap dog and bed hog and has lots of love to shower. He was 95 lbs. when we got him, and has put on about 10 pounds and is looking great.
