RUFUS's Story...
Rufus is a living teddy bear. He is VERY laid-back, calm, sweet, easy-going boy. Rufus reminds us of a small newfoundland BUT we don't know!! Rufus weighs about 60 lbs; In a sitting position, he is 29” from floor to top of his head; in a standing position he is 22” tall measured from the floor to the shoulders. He has a beautiful medium-to-long length coat, with wavy beautiful hair around his neck and a white blaze on his chest Rufus loves people and prefers the company of people to dogs; he's a happy, healthy boy, who is estimated to be about 3-4 years old. If you want a cuddly, teddy-bear of a boy, who is content to lie around, relax with you while you watch TV, read books, or just chill, Rufus is the right dog for you. He is not going to need major exercise, and might not be the best fit for an active, sporty family. He's really a couch-potato! He is a very affectionate, loving guy. He is defiantly a people's dog, meaning he loves to spend all his time and give all his attention to his person. He is great in the house and has not had to be crated at all. He's not a chewer and hasn't had any accidents in his foster home. He is good on a leash, and enjoys riding in the car. Rufus is fully vetted, neutered, up to date on all shots, and ready for his forever home. Adoption fee is $425; to apply, please visit our website, www.labrescuenetwork.com and submit an online application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

RUFUS, a Houston Newfoundland/Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Newfoundland/Shar Pei for sale in Houston, or seeking a Newfoundland/Shar Pei dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Newfoundland/Shar Pei breeders who help with Newfoundland/Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
