Facts about Bradley

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 00232
  • Hair: Short
Bradley came into rescue as a young stray kitten that a local family found. After having him for a short time, he ingested a piece of a kitten toy which needed to be surgically removed to save his life. Unfortunately the family could not afford sugery and opted to have him put to sleep. He was such a sweet boy that we couldn't think of putting him down and asked the young family to release him over to the rescue so we could do what needed to be done. He came through surgery with flying colors and has made a full recovery. He was very nervous following surgery, most likely due to wearing an e-collar and having to be confined so that he couldn't run and jump. We decided to give him some time to get used to people before placing him up for adoption. He is very affectionate once he gets to know you and trust you. He loves pounce treats and climbing on his cat house and cat tree. He plays well with our other male kitten and does great around all the dogs. He provides much entertainment for our young pekingese who loves to follow him around. He seems to enjoy being the center of her attention as well. He has not been around a lot of children and does not likes to be picked up until he decides he trusts you and wants to jump up next to you. He is very sweet and once he claims you as "his", he likes to follow you around. He is looking for that special "cat" family to call his own. Please consider Brad if you are looking for a "purr"fect friend!

About Kanyons Gold Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Kanyon's Gold Rescue (KGR) is a small, non-profit, group of volunteers, dedicated to the rehabilitation, care, and adoption of animals rescued from euthanizing animal shelters in the Poconoc REgion of PA. KGR is a nonprofit corporation as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We promote humane education and encourage responsible pet ownership. Our first priority is to rescue as many unwanted or unclaimed adoptable dogs and pups from area shelters as possible. Relatively new to rescue, 7.5 years experience, we are committed to doing everything we can to help aid these furry friends in need. As we are a rescue, and not a shelter, all visiting of animals in our program usually occurs in the evening or on weekends. There are exceptions to availability, so please call to schedule an appointment.
All our animals are evaluated for overall temperment, for suitability around other dogs, cats and children. They are health-checked, up-to-date on all shots, placed on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and spayed or neutered. All are kept in foster homes until they find their very own forever homes and are treated like family. We actively train in obedience and good citizenship. While they are with us, we try to learn as much as possible about each animal in order to make the best possible match for the pet and new family.

The adoption fee does not cover all the costs of rehabilitation, inoculations, food, toys, bedding, etc. in a foster situation. We are completely dependent upon donations of time, and money to save these dogs. That is why we ask for financial donations! Every penny donated goes directly to the care of these rescued dogs.

KGR volunteers are located in and around the Brodheadsville, PA area. As such, we attempt to help animals in our area and would like to help other groups as much as we are able. We believe that working together is the fastest way to help reduce the growing numbers of euthanized, adoptable pets.

Our Adoption Process...

Thank you for considering adoption of a rescued pet from Kanyons Gold Rescue, preventing an abandoned animal from being euthanized. The process of adopting a pet is simple. We require an adoption application, reference checks, and a home visit. All animals are placed strictly as inside family members, not as lawn ornaments. All dogs in the KGR program have received a full vet/medical exam, heartworm test and series of immunizations. KGR also makes sure that every adopted pet has already been spayed/neutered. KGR does not have a facility, shelter or kennel and solely depends upon volunteers to provide a temporary loving home to the dogs rescued from area shelters until an adoptive home has been selected.
KGR screens/interviews all potential adoptive individuals to ensure that every dog adopted is placed in the best-suited new home. KGR's adoption application can be found at This is a word document that may be emailed back to us, faxed, or mailed. Once an individual completes and submits an application, s/he will be interviewed by a KGR volunteer.

Once approved, an adoption fee is required. Canine adoption fee starts at $250.00 and feline adoption fee starts at $150 and is determined by many factors. Adoption fees helps to defray the costs incurred while the dog/cat is in our care, but in no way covers all of the expenses associated with each rescue animal. Donations are gladly excepted at any time!

KGR requires individuals wanting to adopt a dog to be over the age of 21. KGR will not accept applications from those who will not be the primary care taker and owner of the dog (e.g., surprise birthday gift). KGR reserves the right to deny an applicant if, in our judgment, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of the dog or if the dog is not suitable for the applicant. For example, an individual/family may be denied due to not having the type of fencing needed for a dog that is able to jump over and clear a four-foot fence. We are unable to “hold” a dog for a potential adoption applicant because this prevents another dog from being rescued from the shelter.

An adoption contract is also required and is an agreement that the new owner will: Provide shelter, food, yearly vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative medication and medical care. KGR retains the right to reclaim any rescued animal that is neglected, improperly cared for, living in the yard, or allowed to roam free.

KGR is a very small, non-profit, organization. We cannot provide shipping fees or transport any pet. KGR’s dogs are rescued from shelters and have already been traumatized; therefore, we do not support the transport of dogs by plane unless the dog is allowed to fly with passengers.

We are open to discussing any animal currently in our program that is of interest. We place our animals on a trial basis to determine if the new pet is a good match for the family environment. Our adoption agreement requires that all pets be returned to KGR if there are any problems, as opposed to being passed on to another owner or turned in to a shelter. When an animal is rescued by KGR, we commit to that animal for the duration of his/her life and will always bring them home until a new forever home can be found. We are also happy to assist in finding a suitable animal with another rescue if we do not currently have a pet you desire.
