Dixie's Story...
If you are interested in DIXIE, please contact Jacque at hahsfostermom@earthlink.net.

Dixie is a shy 4 year old Chihuahua mix who only weighs 10 lbs. She was turned into the Ottawa shelter because her owner had to go into a nursing home. The other 2 dogs Dixie came in with were ganging up on her so she started out a bit timid toward other dogs in her foster home.

Dixie is 100% housetrained using a dog door. She also is crate trained. Dixie has been spayed, heartworm tested negative, has had all her shots, been on heartworm preventative and flea/tick control.

Due to Dixie’s size and shyness, she is not suitable for an active home with young children. She will need a home that will be able to work with her to build her self confidence and allow her to gain trust of people at her own speed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Overland Park Chihuahua/Boston Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier dog from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Boston Terrier breeders who help with Chihuahua/Boston Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
