My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birthdate: 12/3/10

Gender: Female

Breed: Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix

Siblings: Oreo, Hershey, Godiva

It’s amazing what a little change of environment can do. When we first saw these pups, they were at the Carroll County Pound, turned in by their owners without their mother. They had no idea how they had gone from their home to that place, surrounded by loud barking dogs and standing on a hard cold concrete floor. The three of them piled onto the single bed in the kennel and peered out through the fence.

Skip forward a couple of hours after a long car ride away from the pound and to the safety of New Lease on Life where they’re surrounded by people happy to pet them, lots of chew toys and mountains of soft, warm bedding to snuggle into. They’ve turned into completely different pups. Gone are the scared confused faces, replaced by happily wagging tails and little pink tongues darting out to lick your hand.

Hershey is simply stunning, and her photos don’t nearly do her justice. You have to come see her at the shelter to truly appreciate her markings which are a beautiful blend of Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd in muted, red hues.

Hershey is believed to be an Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix. We expect her to reach around 40 – 50 pounds as an adult.

Hershey has not yet been spayed, but this will be done BEFORE you take her home. If you’re interested in adopting, please visit the shelter any time during adoption hours, Thursday through Sunday 5–8pm, to meet her. You can also call 330–397–8270 if you would like to schedule a private appointment outside of regular adoption hours. If the two of you hit it off, (and how could you not?) you can fill out an adoption application. If approved, you will then leave a 50% deposit ($100) to reserve him for your family. She can go home as early as the day after her spay, which we can usually get scheduled within a couple of days.
