AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area.
Hi, my name is Newman and I was rescued from a local pound after I was picked up as a stray. I had to sleep on cold concrete and I was given no medicine!
AARF fought to get me released from the pound early so that they could get me the medical help that I desperately needed!! They took me straight to the vet and found out that I was in real bad shape. I was given a bunch of medicine and then I went to a foster home to start recovering. Or so they thought. On Monday, I was not doing any better and was running a high fever, so I went back into the vet. I am underweight, have demodex mange, worms, an upper respiratory infection, I'm anemic, and my limbs and throat started swelling shut because of something called puppy strangles!! They are treating me with steroids, IV fluids, antibiotics, cephalexin, Ivermectin, pain killers, pepcid, and benedyrl. I am getting nutritious food and the proper diet to slowly gain some weight. My temperature finally went down so the doctors sent me home to my foster parents!!
Boy, I am so happy!! I have a long road of recovery but hopefully, I will be one handsome fellow real soon!!
AARF is in desperate need of donations to help pay my vet bills.
