Dooley's Story...
Meet Dooley! (It means"dark hero")
This big lug was at a high kill shelter that was euthanizing all of the animals that remained at the facility due to a remodel. We couldn't let this good ol boy die that way, so we saved him. The vet thinks that Dooley is between 5 and 7 years old and says that he may have a touch of newfoundland in him. He is a big snuggly teddy bear, loves to put his head in your lap and have you rub his ears, and his tail is always wagging.Don't let the white on his face fool you...he is not old and frail by any means. He is a 72 lb powerhouse. His teeth are in good shape too. Dooley is currently being treated for heartworms and will be available for adoption in the early spring. He does know some basic commands and will deffinately sit for food or treats. We will know more about Dooley soon and will update his information as we evaluate him. If you are interested in Dooley, we are taking applications. Please email the rescue for info.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dooley, a PORTLAND Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in PORTLAND, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in PORTLAND.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in PORTLAND already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a PORTLAND breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in PORTLAND paves the way for another one to be saved.
