My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

OTIS IS DEAF
Otis is a 1 1/2 year old deaf merlequin male with natural ears. He came to rescue due to his family splitting and him no longer receiving the attention he needed or deserved. Unfortunately this is his second trip to rescue, he was originally being rescued from a shelter at the tender age of 5 months. Otis is an extremely sweet boy who gets along well with everyone. He’s fine with children of all ages, and has lived with children as young as 5 years old. He might be a bit active for little ones that are not used to a strong Dane tail and being knocked over by a Dane running by. Otis LOVES playing with other dogs, and must be placed in a family with another dog. Preferably one that is large and young enough that they can handle Otis’s still puppy playfulness. He is said to be good with cats, and didn’t do anything but check out the cat that was walking loose around the vet office, but we could see him chasing a cat to try and get it to play with him. Being deaf doesn’t phase Otis at all. He watches the other dog in the house for cues, and pays close attention to where his people are. One of his eyes is cloudy, but he appears to have limited, if not full, vision in that eye. Otis is crate trained, and is currently spending his nights and time when his family is not home in a crate. He rides great in the car, and while not perfect on a leash, isn’t too bad. Otis would fit in with just about any family that is willing to bring in a playful, still puppy Dane into their home.
