My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It is the goal of Open Arms Dog Rescue to rehabilitate our rescue dogs to a happy and healthy state so they can be adopted. On rare occasions, one of our dogs may have ongoing medical needs that unfortunately render them a poor candidate for adoption. Such is the case with HoneyBear, a sweet 4 year old Chihuahua girl.

Due to puppy mill abuse, HoneyBear came to rescue suffering from two broken front legs and two rear legs with rotated patella and ligament ruptures. She has received initial surgeries, but will require ongoing monitoring of her legs and additional surgeries. Therefore, HoneyBear has joined our Forever Ours program and will live a safe and loving life with her dedicated foster Mom.

Open Arms has established a bank account in HoneyBear’s name to cover future medical expenses. Will you help us help her? HoneyBear’s journey began with a life of abuse, but she was rescued from euthanasia in the nick of time, settled in to a loving foster home and finally received initial surgery giving her mobility for the first time. She now has a unique HoneyBear way of walking.

Your donation in any amount will ensure HoneyBear receives the care she needs for quality of life. Thank you to these special angels recently making donations to get HoneyBear’s bank account started: Blick family in memory of Jerry, their Springer Spaniel; honorary Auntie Paula for Boo-Boo Kitty on his birthday; and fur kids Dooney and Bourke who gave up their treat money for HoneyBear.

Please consider making a one-time contribution or occasional contributions during the year (birthdays, holidays, in-honor-of/in-memory-of, etc.) There are three ways to donate. Monetary donations will go towards HoneyBear’s veterinary and surgery expenses. Gift cards to PetSmart or Petco will purchase specific items for her basic care such as joint support supplements, toys, chews, cuddle bed, and sweater.

Send your check to: HoneyBear, C/O Arms Opens Network, P.O. Box 354471, Palm Coast, FL 32135. Write HoneyBear on your check or enclose a note stating that your donation is for her.

Via PayPal: Access your account, select the Send Money tab, and enter paws2heart@bellsouth.net. This email account is actually HoneyBear’s and she will acknowledge your donation as well as any emails you might write.

Send your check to the bank where her account is established: Intracoastal Bank, 1290 NW Palm Coast Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32137. On the envelope, write: Attention Susan for HoneyBear in Open Arms

With help from her foster mom, HoneyBear sends a personal thank-you note to everyone, including fur-kids! Thank you-thank you-thank-you!
