Racy's Story...
Racy is a colorful and handsome greyhound boy who has an excellent temperment and loves everyone he meets. He rides well in a car and walks nicely on a leash. Racy has good house manners and gets along well with other dogs and tested as OK with cats, although he has not yet lived with cats. Racy is a little smaller than average size for a male greyhound at 71 lbs. He was known as "Crazy Character" when he raced. Racy competed in 25 races and "graded off", meaning he was not fast enough compared to the other greyhounds to continue competing. We tried Racy as an only dog in a home and he did not do well. Therefore, we would like to find him a home with a family that has at least one other dog. Racy would do well with a family that is at home a lot, as he loves human companionship. His foster mom is working with him on staying in a crate during the day when she is at work and becoming used to knowing all is well and that she will be back soon. All in all, Racy is a very nice young dog, just 3 1/2 years old. His adoption fee of $250 includes his neuter, teeth cleaning, all vaccines, Bordetella (to protect against kennel cough), microchip, leash and collar, adoption guide, grooming mitt, and stuffie toy. Please call us at 813/272-2332 for more information or to meet this handsome fellow.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Racy, a Tampa Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
