Leah's Story...
Leah (female)
Hello, my name is Leah and I am a female German Shepherd. I don't know how old I am, maybe 2 1/2 years. My current owner rescued me when I was abandoned by my original owner. My current owner took me to the vet where I was spayed. I have a very mild case of heartworms (like one heartworm) and I must take medication monthly. My original owner abused me and I am skittish and am afraid of noises like lawn mowers. I'm very smart and even graduated from Petco's Dog Training. I live inside in a large kennel where I feel safe and secure. My owner can't let me be alone in the back yard because I can climb a fence. I get along very well with the other dog in my house, an elderly Miniature Schnauzer. I need to be adopted by someone who is kind but who knows how to handle large dogs. I will take my kennel and my igloo dog house with me when I'm adopted. Contact: Johnnie Covington 318-865-5955 or email to JHCOV@aol.com. There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to Pet Savers of $30.00 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Leah, a Haughton German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Haughton, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
