My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**

Truly is a stunning liver and white English Pointer who was dumped at an animal shelter in the south by a breeder who has "too many dogs." Truly is about two years old. She got adopted by a wonderful family with their 15 year old son and their other dog, where she had access to run on 160 acres of land. Unfortunately, she discovered that a neighbor across the road had chickens and being a bird dog she couldn't resist. This didn't make for very good neighbor relations so rather than leash Truly they returned her to the high kill shelter in the south where she was taken into rescue. Thank goodness!

Truly is a high energy, goofy girl. She has a very strong birding instinct, and for that reason can sometimes be difficult to connect with when she is outdoors and looking for flying things. She will need to be on leash when outdoors with her family - we love the 50-foot leads for that reason! Because Truly is quite "bird crazy" she will run, run, run if allowed off leash where she might find flying things. During her time at the adoptive home, she mastered housetraining and got along famously with her canine sister. She also gobbled up attention from her human family. Truly can be puppyish in her behavior, like chewing and stealing socks from the laundry basket.

Truly is happy and playful. She tries to grab the dog food bag and give it a shake in a goofy, high-spirited way. She will be an awesome family dog. She gets along well with both male and female dogs. We don't recommend her for a home with cats. An adoptive home would be best suited if they have a large fenced yard and regular exercise for Truly. She is not a couch potato, though she certainly enjoys cuddle time and quiet time.

Kids will be just fine with Truly but she might knock over a little one in excitement to be with her people. She is a slender, delicate girl, weighing 40 to 45 pounds.

We would love to find this deserving girl a forever home as she will be making her way north soon! Please visit our web site to find out about our adoption process.

Thank you for considering adoption!
