Eleanor Roosevelt's Story...
My name is Eleanor Roosevelt. I am a puppy mill survivor. I lived on an Amish farm. I lived inside a wooden box inside a very dark barn. Then one day people from rescue showed up and asked the Amish man if they could have me and my 2 friends. He told them that we were no longer of any service to him and he gave us to them. They drove me to the most beautiful place I had ever seen. It was a veterinary office and for the first time in my life I was treated with kindness. People petted me and spoke softly to me. They gave me shots- they ran tests - they did so many new things to me and when they were finished I was carried out to a car by an angel. She talked to me and told me how much I was loved. She told me that there were many more just like her who were waiting to meet me. This angel gave me a name -she called me Eleanor Roosevelt. She told me she named me that because I was a woman of strength and character. That day my angel took me toplayful pups retreat in Elizabethtown, Pa. I thought I died and went to heaven. There was a bedroom just for me. There was a clean bed and blanket for me. There was the best food I had ever eaten. There was a thing called a bowl and it was filled with clean, cold water. I was allowed to drink as much as I wanted. Nothing had ever tasted that good in my life. I was used to rain water and water that lingered in my box after the farmer hosed it out. I was given toys and treats. I was taken outside in a beautiful yard and I was allowed to run and jump. My life changed completely in one day. I hope all the dogs still stuck inside those awful Puppy Mills find their way to rescue. I know I have gone on and on and I don't want to ask for too much but I just need one more thing. I need someone to go to www.atailtotell.com and fill out an adoption application for me. I am only four years old and I think I would love to find a furever lap to call my own. I am being fostered in NJ.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Eleanor Roosevelt, a Mount Gretna Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bichon Frise for sale in Mount Gretna, or seeking a Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in Mount Gretna.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mount Gretna already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mount Gretna breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mount Gretna paves the way for another one to be saved.
