Snowflake's Story...
Snowflake and brothers are newly arrived owner-surrendered pups, born 12/1/10. Their mother is a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix (who has since been spayed), and their father is a Boston Bull/Pug mix. Neither parent weighs more than 15 pounds, so we are pretty confident these pups will remain small.

Unfortunately, the former owner docked these pups' tails, but their little rumps still look so cute when wagging! Don't be fooled by how little the puppies are... their breed mix has a lot of intelligence, stubbornness, and ENERGY - these are not "lap dogs" or "purse dogs" - but they would probably be good agility dogs, and great companions for families that have lots of time to play with them. Their former home introduced them to children from toddlers to teens (we still recommend supervised play only for toddlers and ANY puppy). They know how to use a doggy door and were alternating between using "puppy pads" and the doggy door to go potty; although the shelter doesn't have a doggy door for them, they will pick that skill up again fast should you have a door for them! They are all very playful pups, and cute as can be!

These pups will be spayed/neutered and ready to go any time after 3/5/11.

Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet. They will reward their forever owners with boundless love and loyalty! We start all puppies on their vaccinations as soon as they arrive at the shelter (this litter will have had 1 vaccination before they are ready to go home); most will require additional boosters in the first couple of months after arriving in their new homes, and rabies vaccination between 4-6 months of age.

Here is a video of the pups on 2/23/11 - you can see they are entering the teething phase, and their motto is "ANY toy is a good toy!":

Spay/neuter, worming, and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption donation (suggested minimum $95; more gratefully accepted!) Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Snowflake, a Republic Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier for sale in Republic, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier puppy from a breeder in Republic.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Republic already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Republic breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Republic paves the way for another one to be saved.
