Mo's Story...
contact steffpaige@aol.com or 310 497 0472
DOB: Spring 2009
Breed/Coloring/Weight: Mo is a cute and dainty Shepherd mix boy who weighs about 40 pounds. He has a slender build, is agile, and athletic. He most closely resembles a ‘mini German Shepherd’ with the classic black/brown markings and ‘stand up’ ears.
Rescue History: Mo and his brother Manny were rescued from a family that irresponsibly bred their dogs and had a litter of puppies to find homes for. By the time rescue stepped in, only these 2 guys were left. One look at these handsome fellows and we knew we had to have them. They immediately slobbered our volunteer with kisses of thanks upon leaving that home.
Personality: If Mo were a person, he’d be a total ladies man charming all the women with complements, kisses on the hand, and gentleman-like moves. He is absolutely in love with people and thoroughly enjoys meeting every individual he comes in contact with. At adoptions, he’s a total ham as he eats up all the attention by giving the people licks and kisses in hopes for pets and belly rubs in return. He’s the kind of dog that will jump in your lap if you’re sitting on the ground to be as close to you as possible, he yearns for constant human touch and interaction. Mo enjoys snuggling on the couch (if he’s allowed) and simply hanging around with people 24/7. He is the ultimate companion dog and wants nothing more than to show you he loves you by giving as many doggy kisses as possible. Mo is also very playful and loves to romp around in his foster mom’s yard or play wrestle with his favorite friend - his brother Manny. Mo does get along with other female dogs quite well and is used to being a “beta” dog since he’s been bossed around by his alpha brother all his life. Mo doesn’t mind another dog taking lead, he’ll follow..he doesn’t care. Although he does prefer to listen to females ;) As much as Mo is a lover, he also could use a good training class to teach him the ropes of basic commands. Because he’s a quick learner, we know his adopter would get their money worth. His one great attribute is that he’s good on leash and wonderfully crate trained, he’ll sleep through the night like a baby in his crate. He would probably be overwhelmed by the dogpark, so we think one dog friend or an only dog with a yard, walks, and people playing with him is enough to keep him happy and trim. Mo would be an excellent family dog and could easily go to a home with little kids (over 5)..he knows to be gentle and sweet with the little ones as it is in his nature to love all humans big or small.
Training: Mo is a young adult so we suspect if he’s not already housebroken, he’ll get the hang of it very fast. He’s crate and leash trained. Still needs basic obedience.
Medical: neutered, current vaccines, rabies, and microchipped.
Would do best: Mo would do best in a house/yard situation that had a doggy door to come and go when people were at work. He could be an only dog if given ample playtime, walks, and attention OR would be great with another dog in the home (preferably female). A bossy female is ok ;)
Cats, Dogs, Kids: Not so great with cats (chases, Shepherd thing), EXCELLENT with kids, ok with other dogs, better with females than males…however is in love with his brother Manny!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mo, a Studio City German Shepherd Dog/Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Rhodesian Ridgeback for sale in Studio City, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Rhodesian Ridgeback dog from a breeder in Studio City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Studio City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Studio City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Studio City paves the way for another one to be saved.
