Josie's Story...
Josie was abanonded at our shelter over the weekend. Although she was very tired and extremely starved, her first priority unpon entering our lobby was asking for some much needed attention, which we willingly obliged. Josie is a young girl and we are judging she is about 8-10 months old in our photos taken Feb.28. She will be receiving frequent small meals until we can no longer see her protruding ribs - a job our volunteers take very seriously, never missing an opportunity to give Josie a treat whenever we walk past her kennel run. We don't know if she is a purebred Bassett Hound or mixed with a Beagle (sometimes called a Bagel). We do know that she has a genlte and loving personality and will make an outstanding companion for some lucky family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Josie, a Pisgah Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Pisgah, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Pisgah.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pisgah already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pisgah breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pisgah paves the way for another one to be saved.
