Jules is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever known. He fun loving, loyal, adventurous and he will do anything for a belly rub. He LOVES belly rubs. He loves going for walks and he is a perfect gentleman in the car. He loves sharing Sonic chicken strips with you and your sweet potato skins. He is a fantastic people dog!
We don't know what happened to Jules before he came to us but it was clear it was not good. He has plenty of marks of abuse on him, including bullet holes. Jules has come a long way since he was found on the streets of east Nashville running for his life. It was clear he had never lived inside a home but before long he learned to ropes and got used to normal household noises and activities, and how to behave in a home with a family that loved him. Today, he is happy as a lark and enjoys not having to fend for himself and struggle for every inch of life. The only thing that still scares him are fireworks/fire crackers. That's because he remembers the sound and powder smell from when he was shot. When we first found him he had a bullet still lodged in his scull.
Jules is great with other dogs and cats and he is great with people. He has only one problem. He is food protective. It is easy to manage by feeding him in his crate. The cats have their own feeding station that he is not allowed into. So we are looking for a family who does not mind feeding him in is crate and who likes to keep a clean house where food morsels are not dropped on the floor which might cause a squabble with another dog or cat. Jules is well behaved and for treats he sits alongside other dogs without lunging after them. He politely waits his turn. His training is immaculate. Jules will do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog. He prefers little dogs to big dogs but if dogs his size are unassuming he loves them too. All that being said it is Silver Rescue's practice to place dogs with opposite sex dog companions.
We are looking for an experienced 'large dog' person for Jules. Jules will be adopted to an inside forever home only. 6 ft fence required. Home owners only. No rentals please. Reference and vet checks, as well as home visit are required. Jules's adoption fee of $200 will be used to help other abused and abandoned dogs like him.
