Friday's Story...
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Friday is an adorable shih tzu who was rescued from a puppy mill in January. He is now 8 months old and weighs 10 pounds, and he will not get bigger. Friday is learning that life in a home with his foster family is wonderful and he walks around all the time wagging his tail. He gets along well with dogs in his foster home from a min pin to a huge Bernese Mountain Dog! He should be just fine with cats, and respectful kids 8 and up would be fine. Friday can be shy in new situations and will benefit from obedience training and lots of love and socialization. He is house trained and goes out into the fenced yard with the other dogs just fine. Due to his past, he cannot be kenneled as it makes him very frightened. Fortunately he does behave well indoors and isn't a chewer or a barker. Friday needs an experienced adopter who is home much of the time to continue his socialization and help him become a confident little boy. Friday is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. His $400 adoption fee covers his neuter, heartworm pill, shots, worming, professional grooming and microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Friday, a Osseo Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Osseo, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Osseo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Osseo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Osseo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Osseo paves the way for another one to be saved.
