Charlie's Story...
Charlie is a 2-3 year purebred yellow lab boy. He is a big guy, weighing about 75lbs and has a beautiful soft healthy coat. He was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan who did not want to take him to the pound so she held on to him for a bit until we could pull him in LLR. As you can see, he is beautiful, gorgeous and very, very handsome and did we mention that he is gorgeous? He is a nice boy too and gets along with all the other doggies and humans. He has currently not been cat tested, but can be if needed. He is definitely a people dog and would rather hang out with his people and get all kinds of good boy attention. He loves liver treats and compressed rawhide bones and will chase a kong ball if thrown. Charlie can be a bit stubborn but certainly not too much for a pack leader to handle. He will do well in obedience as he seems very smart and willing to learn. He already knows how to sit, but needs some work on leash walking, staying and recall. With his stubborn streak, Charlie would probably do better in a home with older children and a family or single person with prior dog experience. Charlie is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He is micro-chipped and kept on flea, heartworm and tick prevention. If you are interested in this boy, please fill out an online application and request him on the notes section.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Charlie, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
