My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Lacie is a darling pittie puppy who lost her home due to a domestic abuse situation. Her human mom and kids had to go to a human shelter but she couldn't go along, so she ended up in a doggie shelter and is now in a foster home where she is doing great. Lacie is 5-1/d smonth old and currently weighs 21 pounds. According to an interactive puppy growth chart, she should be only 25-30 pounds full grown!!! So if you like the bully breeds but don't have room for a full sized dog, Lacie may be a great choice. Foster parents had this to say about her: "Lacie is so charming and lovable. She has some great playmates and loves children. She's almost 100 percent on her housetraining (which means she will always try to get outside the door to go potty). Her recall is excellent for such a young dog and she's very responsive and now familiar with several commands.

Sit/stay

Shake hands/give me your paw

Come

Get in your house (kennel)

Go outside

Come inside

Go upstairs/downstairs

Lie down (just started learning this one)

Walking well on lead (starts out a little excited)

Lacie's obviously a very smart girl and it's so much fun seeing her excitedly scampering about the house. She minds well to correction and is past the biting/chewing stage. Lacie's also been a quiet girl and we only encourage her to bark appropriately." She is with a 501c3 rescue. Her $300 adoption fee covers her spay, heartworm pill, shots, worming, and HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
