My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

5/7/11 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $350

Fostered in Texas

Age: 4 years

Weight: 5 lbs.

ADOPTION APPLICATION REQUIRED.
Visit www.YorkieHavenRescue.com to apply.

3/23/11 - What’s that you say? “I’m cute”. Awww, aren’t you just the sweetest thing. Well, I think you’re adorable yourself, and if you choose to adopt me we can wear matching t-shirts that say “I’m with the cute one”. I’m Buffy, the most adorable little thing on the YHR site. Shhh, don’t let all the other babies hear that, because they think it is all about them.

I was found about a year and a half ago by this nice lady who took me in and gave me a home after all attempts to find my original owners failed. Everything was going ok until one day in January of this year, I had a little mishap with one of the other dogs in the house and wound up with a broken front leg. My mom brought me to the doctor and he splinted it, but I think I needed more than that, because it just would not heal and I was in a lot of pain all the time and could not use my leg. Mom realized that surgery would be needed and would be costly, so she and a friend reached out to Yorkie Haven Rescue to surrender me in order to get the surgery that I so desperately needed in order not to totally lose my leg and then find me a home that would love me and take care of me forever.

The day I entered the YHR program, I went to the vet for an exam of my leg and it was decided that I would have to be admitted right away and have surgery on my leg the next day. When the splint was taken off, my foster mom said that my little limb just flopped around and hung as if there were no bones in there at all.

Well, I had surgery on 3/15/11 and am recuperating now at my foster home. Foster mom says that I am affectionate, sweet and love to give little Yorkie kisses. I love to be held and have been a very good patient since my surgery. I’m doing well on my pottying, but I must attribute that to foster mom since she is home and takes me out quite often. I’m currently sleeping in a playpen so as not to hurt my leg in the middle of the night, but once this thing is healed, I sure wouldn’t mind sleeping in the big people bed with my new parent(s).

As if I’m not cute enough, foster mom wants me to tell you about this cute little thing I do. I bury my food/bowl when I’m done eating. I thought I was just being a neat little girl and tidying up my area. Don’t all dogs do this?

One thing that will make me upset is large dogs, I don’t seem to particularly care for them being around and it makes me quite ugly. I also should not go to a home with small children because I am so small and dainty, but seem to do ok with pups my size.

Are you into cavities (since I’m so sweet)? C’mon and fill out an application for me. Us good looking people have to stick together.

3/14/11 - Buffy has just become a YHR member. She went straight from her previous home to the vet because of a broken leg that was splinted to try to avoid surgery and was not healing, but becoming worse. She is having surgery tomorrow and once she is at her foster home resting and we learn more of her personality and her outcome, we will update.
