Orion's Story...
When our owner brought my best friend in the whole world, Baby, the Pomeranian, and yours truly to the shelter recently, she tearfully told the staff that it was to be our last day on earth. She had fallen on hard times and feared there would be no happy ending.

You see, we are both 11 yrs. old – and although both cats and small dogs live long and prosper – it is an uphill battle to get anyone to see that. On top of that, we really LOVE each other. The odds against either of us getting a second chance are daunting enough without trying to place us both together.

I am huge Maine Coon mix, and I must admit, I made quite the entrance. I arrived wearing a spiffy red harness and leash, dwarfing my Pom buddy. Even though my owner had stopped brushing me (and I love being brushed), one look at my huge leonine head and long thick chocolate brown coat, marbled with classic black tabby stripes, made the staff think twice about writing me off. They purrsuaded the owner to sign both me (and Baby) over for potential adoption rather than euthanize us.

Although right now I’m a little stressed, point of fact is in a home environment, I’m a laid back fella who doesn’t let much get to me. I am not big on being picked up and carried around and would much rather lay near you than on your lap. However, considering what a big boy I am, I think a discerning person would be grateful for that little streak of independence.

I know somewhere in this wide, wide world, there is someone who knows I have another decade in me and will give me and my silly little pal, Baby, a second chance. Please consider adopting us together.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Orion, a Edgewater Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Edgewater, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Edgewater.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Edgewater already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Edgewater breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Edgewater paves the way for another one to be saved.
