Sweet Pea's Story...
Sweet Pea is an absolute doll with so much love to give! This sweet girl was found on the side of a road with her deceased sibling. Poor baby probably didn't want to leave... She was extremely dehydrated and emaciated)o; For the past two days she has been at the vet on iv fluids and lots of good food. As you can see in the pictures she also has demodectic mange which is not contagious and is being treated. Sweet Pea will be spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested and microchipped before adoption. Please find it in your heart to help this sweet girl, she really is quite special!!
HERE IS A NOTE FROM HER GUARDIAN ANGEL!!
"Sweet Pea is a rescued Pit Bull mix that was found in a ditch on the side of the road in Huntington, NY (3/16/11). Sweet Pea is about 6 months old but weighs only 11 pounds. Her vet believes that she was separated from her mother while she was still nursing so due to lack of proper nutrition from infancy, her growth has been stunted. Right now Sweet Pea is being treated for mange and hookworm along with malnutrition and emaciation. Her vitals and overall body function are all normal. Sweet Pea will make a full recovery, however, it will be a long-term process of TLC and great vet and home care to get her fully healthy again. She is missing most of her fur due to the mange and we are hoping that a majority of it will grow back when her skin is better, but there is a chance that she will never have a full coat of fur or possibly have some thin/bald spots. She has a great appetite and loves to play with chew bones and treats. We think Sweet Pea has lived outside her whole life up until now. This little girl is a real fighter - despite all her hardships, she is constantly wagging her tail, giving hundreds of kisses, and is bright and alert. Her personality and disposition are described by her name- she is an absolute sweetheart and has a light about her that is really something special. She wants to love and be loved more than anything in the world."
