Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rusty is a beautiful chocolate tri-colored beagle boy with a typical beagle temperament. He loves kids and is very sweet, lovable, charming and very social…with a little stubborn on the side! His eyes and velvet-soft floppy ears will melt your heart. Rusty enjoys running and playing with the other dogs in his foster home. If Rusty doesn’t get enough playtime he can get himself into trouble with chewing. Rusty is accustomed to being indoors in a gated doggy-proof kitchen with a doggie door which gives him the freedom to run and play in a securely-fenced backyard. Early on in his foster home, Rusty experienced a little separation anxiety and would whine if he couldn’t see his foster mom, but he’s over that now. He’s got no food aggression, but he’s a beagle…if there’s food in a bowl, he’s going to eat it.
Rusty would love a home with a female canine playmate! While he is fine with male dogs he does tend to mark around them. He’d probably be okay as an only dog, but may need to be crated when no one is home so he doesn’t get bored and start chewing. You may want to limit his access to the entire house when you are at work through either crating or baby gates in a kitchen-type area. But when you are home, he’d love to be with you...sleeping in your bed or hanging out with you on the couch. Rusty would love a home with a privacy fence. He’s not a digger, but if there are moles or other critters in your yard, he’s going to try to get them! He’s a very active beagle, but a little like a toddler--he’ll play and play until he wears himself out, and then collapse.
Rusty needs someone who is patient and willing to work with him on his house manners. But, he’s smart and willing to learn. If you’d like to make Rusty a part of your family, please let the folks at BREW know.
