found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.
We want to thank you for your interest in our dogs. We ask that you please read the bios before contacting the rescue as many of your questions will be answered in the bio and on the application process page. We do not do meet and greets with people who have not been screened and approved.
Rusty is a typical Brussels Griffon by all descriptions - he loves to check everything out, and get his nose in the middle of it. He is about 4 years old and came to our rescue by owner surrender.
He is the sweetest dog with a happy go lucky attitude. He weighs 16 pounds and is nicely proportioned, but will likely fill out since he was very lean when he first arrived at his foster home. He gets along well with everyone he meets. He could be very content as an only dog as his focus is his person.
Rusty will need some patience and training. He is still working on coming when called, and is pretty good on a leash. He is house-trained with only a couple accidents in foster care, and will become more reliable with routine scheduled breaks. He loves to be held, cuddle, and sleep in bed with his people. He likes car rides and walks. He is very affectionate and always wants to keep you in sight.
He would love to be adopted by someone that is home most of the time. He is currently residing with two female dogs and is getting along well with them. He could use some etiquette in doggy manners with other male dogs which could put Rusty in danger, so Rusty will not be placed with another male dog.
Rusty does not do well with cats.
Rusty is up to date on all vaccines, neutered, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. He shows anxiety when he is left behind, but that is improving as he feels more secure. Rusty is still confused about where he is supposed to be.
Due to his exploring nature, we prefer to place Rusty in a home with a securely fenced yard.
Please keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get Rusty and that can only happen if he will fly home in the cabin with the approved adopter. Rusty is being fostered in the San Francisco, California area.
