found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, up to date with shots, and good with cats.
Catz Jazz Rescue assists as many unfortunate & abandoned cats as possible, while advocating the message of compassion towards animals and responsible pet ownership. Catz Jazz strives to be one of the best Austin cat rescue operations by providing comfort & care for each and every animal coming into our rescue with consideration of their individual situations. Our goal is to find life-long companions for the rescued cats in our care.
Read about Hairyette: Like most Sphynx cats, Hairyette is personality plus! This rescue Sphynx is a hairless wonder!
The Sphynx cat personality is described as very playful and loving cats who truly love and adore their human families.
Many have compared the personality of the Sphynx cats to those of monkeys and dogs. They are very dog-like because they love to follow you around the house and will also greet you when you come home from a long day at work. They are devoted and loyal to their owners, but must be regularly bathed to remove collections of oily secretions on the skin. These secretions are normal; it's just that Sphynxes don't have hair to absorb them. Allowed to collect, these oils can cause skin problems.
They appear naked, but the Sphynx is not a totally naked cat. Their bodies are covered with a soft down that is almost imperceptible to both the eye and the touch while the texture of the skin has been compared to peach skin.
They have some very fine hair over the bridge of their noses and on their feet. They may also have some fine hair on their tail and at the back of their ears. Some of them get some fuzz when the weather changes.
The Sphynx considerately refrains from shedding all over your couch, but can still make you sneeze. It is not the hair itself that causes the allergic reaction, but rather an allergenic protein called Fel d1 secreted via saliva and sebaceous glands. Sphynxes produce this secretion just as all cats do; they just don't deposit allergen-laced hair all over the place.
When treated with compassionate socalization, the Sphynx has one of the most charming temperaments.
Hairyette has passed a vet exam, is up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccinations, has been treated for any medical needs, given preventative treatment for internal parasites/fleas, has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, is litter-box trained and has already been spayed. Now she just needs a forever home!

Donate a Kuranda cat bed
If you can't adopt Hairyette, would you consider donating a Kuranda cat bed to her while she waits for her forever person to find her?
Our rescued cats love to sleep on Kuranda cat beds because of their orthopedic comfort and we love them because they are stackable, allowing high perches for shy cats while increasing the amount of floor space, but due to our already constricted operating budget, we just don't have enough for everyone to sleep on.
When you donate a Kuranda cat bed to us, you will give an Austin rescue cat a place to sleep in comfort and have a bed to dream on while they patiently wait for their forever home.
We also gratefully accept donations of much-needed items from our
A husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor who lives in our community, is in dire need of our immediate help! At the beginning of July 2010, Chris Blankinship, a trusted and caring volunteer with Catz Jazz Rescue, was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (grade III). This is a rare (about 4% of the population), life-threatening, rapidly-growing, malignant tumor. Due to the nature of this specific tumor and it's location, the only available treatment possibilities are very limited clinical trials (experimental treatments) for chemo and radiation treatment possibilities that will easily exceed the tens of thousands of dollars mark. We believe that with prayers, positive energy and strong willpower, and the financial help from compassionate supporters who are sympathetic to his plight, we can give Chris a chance to opt for those treatment possibilities, but time is of the essence! Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is so greatly appreciated by his friends and family. We humbly ask for your support. Can you please help?
