Bio for 'Squizgar'
Squizgar, AKA Willow, is a five year old blue parakeet, probably a male. He's spirited and feisty, and while he won't step up yet, his reaction to a hand is to 'nip' rather than run away-- but no worries, it doesn't hurt!. If you open his cage he'll come out on his own and fly around the room before landing on your shoulder. He's a capable flier, though he has just had his wings clipped for safety reasons. He'll probably do best in a home where he is allowed to fly and where it is safe for him to fly. He is also completely in love with his mirror, and we suspect he might have had a companion once. We're working on converting him from a seed-only diet to pellets and fresh foods. He does nibble at a bit of apple. He's really a very special little bird who, because he is not afraid, will likely develop a good bond with anyone who treats him with love and respect. He doesn't take up much room and can fly in a fairly small room, so he'd be great for an apartment. He also might be a good companion for an older person as he is easy to care for and seems content to be allowed to fly from your shoulder to his cage, or to a favorite perch. If you're looking for a friendly little bird of the quieter, non-destructive variety and you can offer him some freedom as well as love and attention, you can't do better than this little guy!
