Kaia's Story...
Whelped: 4/9/07 Sex: F Color: Red

Temperament: After a rough start to her life as a pet, due to being attacked by a neighborhood pit bull while out for a walk with her foster dad, Kaia’s scrapes are healing and she is adapting nicely to living in a house. She still struggles with steps at times, wanting to jump over the three steps leading into the house instead of actually climbing them. She is walking much better on lead and pulling is down to a minimum. Her personality is starting to shine through and she is a really sweet, friendly girl. She enjoys meeting new people and shows no hint of shyness. Though she is crated during the day, she sleeps on her own bed in her foster dad's bedroom at night and sleeps through the night. She has a very healthy appetite and, if allowed, would eat any food in sight. She has not shown any tendency to get on furniture, preferring to lie on the rug or on a dog bed near the other two dogs. She gets along well with her two male greyhound foster brothers, but takes no guff from them. She lets them know that this is her house, too. Since the attack, she seems a little wary of other dogs. While out on walks, a dog barking at her from behind a fence does not bother her, but if it comes running toward the fence, she gets a little jumpy. She does show a tendency to want to chase after cats. She is not a velcro dog, she just does her own thing, but will come to check up on her person occasionally if they don't go check on her first!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kaia, a Tampa Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
