Come Meet Our Pets...
Our kitties live in our dog grooming shop which is open Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday from 8:00 AM. We do off-site adoptions one or more times a month. Call us for days and locations. We can also do adoptions by appointment at almost any time. Give us a call and leave a message if we're not available to answer the phone. Or email 2ndphlame@bak.rr.com.
Our Adoption Process...
We have a simple adoption application, the main points being that our kitties go to indoor homes only and must be spayed/neutered at the age of 4-5 months, which we have done if the cat is older than that. We hate to refuse adoption to anyone who will give a kitty a nice home, so we prefer to educate rather than alienate. We may steer you toward a different more suitable cat, but will rarely turn you away. We request at least a $75. donation or 2 kitties for $100.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve California's San Joaquin Valley or as far as a person wishes to drive to meet one of our babies. We do not ship and must meet our adopters in person.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MIss Mary Evie, a Bakersfield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Bakersfield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Bakersfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bakersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bakersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bakersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
