Spike's Story...
Spike is a dog that is lucky to be alive. He was taken from an owner that had decided Spike didn't need food to survive. He probably wouldn't have lived another week if he had been left with his owner. For the first month he was in our care, we had to monitor how much food he ate because too much and he would vomit since his stomach wasn't used to food. He also had to be monitored because anything he could get into his mouth he would eat. He couldn't even have plastic bowls. For the first two weeks with us, he was pooping out plastic and blue jean material-obviously the only things he had been able to eat. But even though he had not been treated the way all dogs deserve to be treated, he has the best temperment!!! He's such a happy dog!! Any family would be lucky to have Spike! He's approx. 5 years old and is great with other dogs! Please contact Laurie at 814-221-0520 for more info or to meet Spike.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spike, a Hermitage Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Hermitage, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Hermitage.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hermitage already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hermitage breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hermitage paves the way for another one to be saved.
