Manfred's Story...
Manfred is a sweet, three-pound, 18-month-old, male Lop who was given up when his family became allergic. Did you know that most people are actually allergic to the Timothy hay rabbits eat, and not to the rabbits themselves? His name was Chocolate Girl when he was relinquished … guess they didn’t realize he was a girl. Hope this Easter they stick with candy variety of bunnies. He is neutered, micro-chipped and vet-checked. His adoption fee of $100 benefits the rescued pets of Red Door Animal Shelter. For more information on Manfred, please e-mail info@RedDoorShelter.org or call 773.764.2242. The Red Door Adoption Center is open Monday through Thursday, 1-5pm; Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12-4 p.m. And, evening hours are available by appointment only.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Manfred, a Chicago Lop, English was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Lop, English for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Lop, English from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Lop, English breeders who help with Lop, English rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
