Ollie's Story...
Isn’t Ollie just the cutest doxie ever? This sweet 7 yr old boy has wrinkled/curly ears. At some point in his past, he must have had ear infections that weren’t treated. These then developed into hematomas which also weren’t treated. The result – permanently wrinkled ears. It had to be very painful at the time, but he is fine now.

Ollie came to us from Tulare County Animal Control where he was brought in as a stray. He is a wonderful doxie!!!! Ollie is great with other dogs, he’s quiet, he is good with people and he rides well in the car. What’s not to love?

We recently introduced Ollie to a cranky senior female doxie. She repeatedly snarked at Ollie and was ready to rumble. Sweet Ollie was totally non-reactive and relaxed the whole time. He decided he wasn’t going to let her ruin his fun so he stretched his back legs out in the grass and enjoyed rolling around. Ollie also puts up with an annoyingly hyperactive 2yr old male doxie playmate. Since he has proven to be so good with other dogs, we believe he would enjoy the company of another doxie but he would be equally happy being an only dog.

Do you like to travel? Ollie certainly likes to travel. Ollie recently got to go on a weekend trip and he is fabulous in the car. He was wonderful and quiet in the hotel room. He didn’t mind the elevator and he was perfectly behaved the whole weekend.

Because Ollie is not a barker, he would be fine living in an apartment or condo as long as he was taken for daily walks and potty breaks.

Ollie is neutered, his vaccines are up-to-date and he has recently had a dental. If you are interested in Ollie, please contact Janice via email at An adoption application and home visit are required.

The tax deductible donation for Ollie is $150.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ollie, a San Jose Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in San Jose, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in San Jose.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Jose already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Jose breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Jose paves the way for another one to be saved.
