Sammy's Story...
Sammy is about 2-3 yr old- Rat Terrier Mix who was rescued from a kill shelter. Sammy weighs about 17lbs. Sammy is very gentle. He was shy when he first got to his foster home but has come a long way in just a couple days. Not too fond of kids but doesnt snap or growl. He loves to snuggle once he gets over his shyness (which may take a while). Sammy does well with other small dogs and cats. If interested in Sammy please go to fpsrescue.org for an application

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Houston Rat Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Houston, or seeking a Rat Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
