My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is a very gentle and affectionate girl. She is comfortable with people of all ages. She came from a home where she was tied and left in the yard. She had become very emaciated. Even with the neglect however, Gracie did not lose her trust with people and will and continues to be a well behaved, loyal companion. She is a loving and friendly dog with everyone she meets and would be great in just about any home environment. She is a young adult dog, weighing 56 lbs.

Gracie is a very affectionate dog. She loves to be the centre of attention. She loves to be around you no matter what you are doing. She is very gentle and would be fine with respectful children of any age. She is very social and well mannered when meeting new people. She is not shy at all and welcomes anyone who would like to be her friend.

Here is what her foster family had to say about Gracie:

When we first picked Gracie up from the rescue she just hopped right into our van and made herself at home. At first, because of her background, she had a low tolerance for our other dog. As she has gotten stronger they now play together as dogs do. We did take Gracie for a walk and she met another dog. She was great until the other dog showed some aggression which Gracie did not like at all. She was very protective.
Within two days Gracie had free roam of our home. She is very good about letting us know she has to go out and there have been no accidents. She does not appear to show any signs of separation anxiety and does not bark when we leave the home. She has always been very good and has never destroyed anything or gotten into anything she shouldn't. She is starting to pick up some behaviours from our dog and will now bark when someone comes to the door.

Gracies first few days at home were very sad. She was so weak that she could barely sit up and for the most part just ate and slept. If you saw her now, you would never believe she could be the same dog. Her coat is now beautiful and soft. When she first came to us she appeared much older but since she has gotten well, she now has a new lease on life and acts like a like a spring chicken playing and frolicking with our dog.

Gracie does know her basic commands and is praise motivated. She is an intelligent dog and learns quickly. She is completely house trained. When we take her for walks she is excellent and never pulls or anything. Although she doesn't need a crate, she is crate trained. We usually just leave the door open with a nice comfy blanket in there. She also loves to go out in the car. She will try to inch her way out the door when you leave because she wants to come with you. She is not a chewer and has never gotten into anything in our home that she shouldn't.

Gracie is a very gentle dog who loves attention, hugs and snuggles. Both my husband and I feel that she will make a wonderful addition to any family.
